Since the conglomerate Mercy Dental took over/bought the practice/however you want to put it, things have gone downhill. The staff turnover feels frequent, no one can give me proper answers or quotes on what my dental insurance covers, and there are frequent miscommunications regarding appointments, resulting in extra missed work. Additionally, about once every two years, I go in for a cleaning, only to have them take about 25 xrays and not even clean my teeth, which is even more lost work and a nearly pointless appointment. None of this is communicated ahead of time.
Two of those times, I have gone in expecting a cleaning, only to be told by the hygienist that my teeth are so bad, there is no point in cleaning them, and one time, I was told that orthodontics was pointless and if they were in charge, they would deny me as a patient! Mind you, 7 years of regular visits, and Dr. Weaver has never ONCE told me that I’m a hopeless case, and he was glad I got orthodontic treatment done. In any event, I have now left 2 appointments in tears, knowing I have done literally everything asked of me for good dental health, and feeling so proud ahead of each appointment as I knew I had worked extra hard, only to be told in my appointment that my teeth are terrible and I clearly am not doing enough to protect them. And do you think they asked me why I was upset? Nope, I was completely ignored by both hygienists as tears poured down my face.
Hopefully none of you experience this. I’m not sure if I want to return at this point. One bad experience, I chalked it up to maybe them having a bad day. But twice now, 2 years apart, and then I end up leaving without them bothering to clean my teeth, but yet charge my insurance for yet another round of xrays, and I am not eager to repeat that experience again.
Take from this what you will, but this is just what I have dealt with and hopefully it is not the same for others, and hopefully others will not have to experience this.
