I can see why some people think it is a scam, and I should have believed other reviewers instead…
My visit was as simple as it gets. I just needed a second opinion and I understood that would obviously come with an X-ray exam plus a comprehensive exam. No pain, no cleaning, no other treatment whatsoever.
To make it clear, Dr. Rebecca is a good dentist. My experience (with the dentist herself and the technical staff) there was rather good that I really wanted to switch from my regular dentist. The hygienist/X-ray tech was welcoming, the technology and equipment are not top-notch, but fairly advanced compared to other dentists I visited in town.
But the administration lady/receptionist (ANDREEA is the name displayed on her desk) is another story. Besides a little attitude (and I understand that’s completely subjective), either she doesn’t know squat about insurance and billing or she is completely dishonest and will do anything just to get you through the door and then squeeze the money out of you after the visit. I think the later is more likely true.
I won’t go through all the details but two of the gross mistakes she made include
1. A false quote before the visit: After she gathered all my insurance info and called my insurance company she assured me on the phone than I will have a zero out-of-pocket copay. After receiving the bill, I later traced the call she made to my insurance (Premera Blue Cross), she purposely omitted some information.
2. Wrong amount billed: the bill I received was different than what reported to my insurance. Glad I checked my Explanation Of Benefits before footing the bill. When I asked why, she did not have any explanation to why the bill I received was higher, she just simply said “Oooh it was a mistake, we will take what’s on your EOB”..
If you can hold your breath until passed the desk lady, Dr. Rebecca is a good dentist that I wouldn’t mind recommending. But the idea of dealing with her desk staff and the uncertainty and surprises in the bill after the visit is too much for me to bear.

I have been to three (3) different dentists in the past six (6) months in Fairbanks, AK. There were all either rude and rushing through the procedure or they were cutting me off and not listening and I can honestly write that this dentist left me an absolutely the best impression I have ever had about a dentist. When I walked in to Dr. Cave’s office, I immediately felt at home. It was probably because the office reminds me of a house. Moreover, I was immediately welcomed with a smile from Andrea who’s at the front desk. She explained the forms to me and I filled them out on her iPad because the office is fully electronic and modern. Then, Andrea took a picture of me and I was seen by the dental assistant immediately. No wait time. The dental assistant was very pleasant and easy to talk to. Finally, Dr. Cave came in with all smiles and jokes. Her and the dental assistant kept cracking jokes during the whole procedure making me feel comfortable and at ease. I kept laughing which probably interrupted the procedure but I had lots of fun. Dr. Cave listened to my dentist-related life stories and was just so kind and warm hearted. I loved it the most that I was never left alone. There was always a dental assistant or Dr. Cave with me in the room which made me feel welcomed and at ease. They even asked me to pick the music for the office cause they have Pandora. I liked whatever music they were already playing. In short, I absolutely loved my whole experience at Dr. Cave’s dental office and will definitely go back there in a heart beat when in need of dental work.
Wonderful Office Staff & Dentist. Dr. Rebecca Cave is a awesome. Years after trying to find a dentist that my daughter would be willing to let them do what needed to be done, I finally found someone that she would not only trust, but really liked. My daughter had several bad experiences with local dentists and it wasn’t until seeing Dr. Cave that she was actually able to get some dental work done. She doesn’t even need me to go back into the room with her anymore. She has total trust in Dr. Cave, who is great with kids! She’s also great with grown-ups who are still terrified of the dentist. I love Andreaa, who has always been friendly and I haven’t had any issues with insurance or billing.
