In the hindsight of nowadays post-pandemic psychological distress, the quarter of century ago, 1996 in particular, looked like a distant year of paradise. It was the premising year when Internet and Windows started booming and blooming, and I remember clearly as yesterday when I entered Aberfoyle Dental office #101 on 1243 Islington Ave. Conveniently situated nearby TTC Islington Station, the office had been opened for 4 years, but the paint on the reception wall, the furniture shine, the leather of the dentist chair, it was all fresh as the morning, sure as the sunrise. Dr Monika Krawczyk was young and good looking, constantly smiling, radiant, genuinely interested while asking about myself, my family and my job, while I was looking at the drill with an unease. But to my surprise the treatment went almost with no pain, because Dr. Krolczyk was chatting all the time remembering good time she had as a student in town Nish while she was visiting my country of birth. What I have noticed straight from the very first touch of the dental instrument is that Kr. Krolczyk is natural, she has that God-given light hand ability lightness of being, like the great impressionist artists. And quiet and dignified assistant Dorota was omnipresent, whatever was Dr. Krolczyk asking for, like suction or light, it was ready right away, they were both in sync as almost as Dorotha was reading Dr. Krolczyk mind in advance in a such harmony of movements. Following my first pleasant visit, all of my family became Aberfoyle Dental patients that year, and we also recruited some friends.

As years go by, things and people change, but the service excellence at the Aberfoyle Dental has been qualitatively increasing. Not just the quality of dental and cleaning work, but also quality of recommendations to other specialists, like root canal or micro surgery specialists. Dr. Krolczyk was always doing her due-diligence to recommend high quality services and cost efficiency. There have been a lot of reception staff changes over the years, particularly involving newcomers, though I look at those changes as the Aberfoyle Dental willingness to engage and provide these young people with precious Canadian experience, so they can later immerse into the vast Canadian market. I am sure that these young people recognize that and are thankful for the chance given. But the changes for me and patients were transparent and agnostic, since the staff was friendly, and I have always got advanced reminder call, very often offering earlier openings. And even when the new staff doesn’t recognize me, it all goes away when I would see Dorota’s wide smile or hear Dr. Krolczyk’s voice, and the call for the session.

What really makes Aberfoyle Dental special is that they genuinely care about patients, and not just during the treatment. During difficult years for my family, Dr. Krolczyk and Dorota have always been asking about my family wellness and how we are dealing with difficulties, while at the same time providing advice about similar situations and offering helpful and encouraging messages. And they do care about community, providing a bridge between dental care and community through the messaging about new and improved state-of-the-art dental tools and services. After 26 yeas of being with them, I can say with the highest level of confidence that Aberfoyle Dental is the very best dental care place in Etobicoke.

I wanted to like this place but unfortunately I had such a horrible experience. The hygienist I got the very first time I went here, I believe her name was Hailey, was extremely rough, very impatient. She kept shoving the X-ray thing in my mouth knowing that I have a bad gag reflex, she wouldn’t give a warning, she kept shoving her hands inside like she’s dealing with an inanimate object. She also kept sighing out loud like she hates doing this, I get it everyone has bad days but do not take it out on your patient’s mouth. The second time I went for the remainder cleaning, I asked for another hygienist and she was super nice but unfortunately she didn’t clean properly. There was visible plaque everywhere which I noticed when I came home. They also didn’t explain the findings of the xray to me, all I kept hearing is that I need alot of work, this is not helpful to a patient.

Dr. Monika Krolczyk and team were beyond exceptional and far exceeded my expectations when it comes to customer service and patient care. My anxiety around dentist were immediately dispelled and replaced with care and comfort and this was confirmed by the treatments administered by Dr. Krolczyk. I wish I could write a million reviews in support of Dr. Krolczyk and the staff at Aberfoyle Dental because they were phenomenal!!! I received the best care from Dr. Krolczyk as she explained in detail what my treatment entailed and the options available to me moving forward. For anyone who experiences pain and anxiety with dentist/dental care, I HIGHLY recommend Aberfoyle Dental, they’re AMAZING!!!
