First, I was surprised to enter this dentist office through the lobby of an apartment complex. It’s NYC, so I get it, but it didn’t exactly set a welcoming tone.
Second, when I entered the office as the first appointment of the morning, I was surprised that I had to wait 10-15 minutes before being called back. While I was waiting, the whole experience felt off-kilter. The waiting room furniture was tattered and old. I was displeased by the random wall art of the NYC skyline that looked equally disheveled.
Most of all, I was thrown off by the music–a blend of early 2000s pop and rock hits that doesn’t fit the vibe of a medical setting at all. I was surprised to hear “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira when I first walked in. Songs like “Bring Me to Life” by Evanescence and “In the End” by Linkin Park (twice!) bellowed through the dental office. It just felt… off.
Importantly, after being called back, I sat in the dental chair for roughly 45 minutes and was told that they were “having trouble with my insurance, but we’re calling the insurance company to verify.” I had no idea what was happening. When I asked for more information, the details were sparse. It all felt sketchy and disorganized. (Note: there are no issues with my dental insurance, which is through one of the largest insurers in the state).
I got up and left. Overall, weird vibes. Rescheduled through another dentist where I was greeted with a relaxing, clean environment, soothing music, and (as expected) no issues with insurance.
Capital improvements are needed. The space is not nice.
Not only was the process informative and transparent, but the flow of team work from Drena at the front desk, to my exam and cleaning with Monserrat, to the full walk through of my oral health and immediate/long term needs with Dr. Reich was seamless and handed over with a sense of teamwork. The entire office was very patient with my questions and in ensuring I was confident in the understanding of our joint-decision care plan for my teeth. Also, the technology involved in their process was very impressive and helpful in learning about my teeth and gums.
My experience was lighthearted, FUN, and engaging. I left my first visit feeling like I was genuinely cared for. I actually look forward to my next visit (not everyone can say this about dentist visits!).
I am not one to accept second best at any service I seek in this city, and Arch Dental did not fall short on meeting my annoyingly high expectations. I highly recommend putting your trust and care in Dr. Reich and his team.
We booked a basic dental cleaning for both and without any notice or patient consent they went on and performed a periodontal cleaning on her. They claim this was part of treatment plan done over a year ago that she had agreed to.
Would have been nice to let her know they were doing this service rather than the basic cleaning we originally booked.
Unfortunately, my insurance is now claiming they will only cover some of the cost of the treatment and will have to pay some out of pocket. Once I called various times to get an explanation, the so called office manager finally got back to me and told me I was a troubled customer with various remarks on my profile and they don’t want to see me anymore and clicked the phone? They did offer to refund me the copayment, but they said they submitted to the claim to my insurance and can’t do anything about it and told me to leave it alone.
Good riddance, will find a professional dentist. It all makes sense now with some of these negative reviews, can’t believe they treat returning customers this way
