Reviews:
I scheduled a routine exam/cleaning. After my x-rays, I was taken back to a room where I waited for TWENTY MINUTES before anyone came to check on me or start my exam. I was treated like an afterthought the rest of the visit. I had a hygienist come in and do a gum assessment, when I asked questions she played a video, left the room and never came back.
5 minutes later the dentist came in and did his ‘exam’, but again, didn’t explain anything or give any sort of feedback to my concerns. I was asked TWICE if I smoke or use tobacco and I told them “No, I noted that in my file.” (I truly don’t think they even looked at it). I was told I have two tiny cavities on my wisdom teeth and that an office manager would come get me to schedule my fillings.
At this point, I’m confused on why I hadn’t received a cleaning yet. I asked him and he said “No ma’am, this is just the exam.” The office manager came and I said “Just to be clear: I’m NOT receiving a cleaning today?” She told me, “If we can do cleanings and exams in the same day, we try to do that, but we weren’t able to today.” I said “Well, if I had known that I would’ve rescheduled because that was the whole point of the visit.” She had no comment.
I was brought to a room to schedule my appointments and then I had to pay up front for my gum treatment and fillings, which by that point I was so upset and shaken I just wanted to get out of there. I thought it was odd I was paying for an ‘estimate’ and they hadn’t even billed my insurance yet.
As long as I live you will never see me step foot in another Aspen Dental ever again. This is not how patients should be treated, especially with something as vulnerable as dental care.
Firstly, I was taken aback by the apparent focus on financial gain rather than patient care. The demeanor of the staff at the front desk was particularly disheartening, displaying impatience and rudeness. Furthermore, I was dismayed to witness unprofessional behavior amongst the employees, as I overheard gossip and mockery directed at patients in waiting room.
Additionally, I was misled about the costs of my visit. The advertisement on the front door clearly stated that first-time visitors would receive a free exam and X-rays. However, I encountered resistance when I sought to claim this offer, and the front desk staff insisted on billing my insurance instead.
Moreover, I was informed that I could not receive my scheduled yearly cleaning without paying for an unnecessary gingivitis treatment. This decision was contradicted by another dental professional, further exacerbating my dissatisfaction with Aspen Dental.
The primary issue was the lack of professionalism and the apparent focus on monetary gains over patient welfare. If you are a potential customer seeking dental services, please go elsewhere to ensure you receive the standard of care you deserve.
