Very Questionable Ethics and Operation Issue. The reason for this one star review comes from two issues:

(1) Operation Issue.
I have made literally over 100 calls to schedule an appointment with no success. No one answers the phone. There is no front desk person/receptionist in this office. This office only relies on doctors and hygienist to answer calls,

(2) Questionable Ethics
I have cavity issues on my back teeth. Dr. Schwartz (the owner, not the treating doctor) insisted that I pay out of pocket the difference between white filling and silver filling (about $150-225 difference each tooth if I’m not mistaken. I have 7 teeth with cavity), citing white filling on back teeth is not covered by insurance.

I had my insurance over the phone with Dr. Schwartz. My insurance confirmed that white filling on back teeth is clearly covered and they do not “downgrade” from white to silver filling. Dr. Schwartz requested confirmation in writing from my insurance. My insurance sent an email to Dr. Schwartz confirming the same. After all these, Dr. Schwartz still refused to perform the treatment for me.

I was so confused and curious why she doesn’t want to do it even though the insurance has confirmed in writing they are going to cover it. MY INSURANCE COMPANY REP TOLD ME THE REASON: with my insurance plan, the insurance company pays the doctor a monthly fixed fee based on how many patients are assigned to her office. She gets the monthly fee no matter whether she sees/treats the patients or not. In other words, even if she treats the patients, she would not get additional payment from the insurance. After the explanation from the insurance company, I kinda understood why she refused to provide the treatment and wanted me to pay additional fee out of pocket to get the white filling. I did not fully verified the info from the insurance company rep and of course could not fully verify whether that was really the reason why Dr. Schwartz refused to provide treatment. I’d be very very shocked if that was the case as I see it as an ethics issue. I wanted an explanation from Dr. Schwartz but was not able to reach anyone after dozens of calls in the following month. I have not concluded Dr. Schwartz is necessarily a bad doctor with no ethics. I probably never can as they refused to communicate. I am just laying out the facts and my personal experience for other patients’ information and consideration when they choose doctors.

The worst customer and dental service experience ever. I have been trying to get X Rays done since November 2015. I went initially for a cleaning and was told to have XRays done but had to come back because they were updating to Digital XRays. I was told to call in December 2015 because they were updating their X Ray system. In December I called the office and it always went to voice mail. I walked into the office and one of the dentists told me to call to make an appointment. I explained to her that I had been calling but no one was picking up. She couldn’t book my appointment in person. I then finally get someone to pick up at the office. An appointment for five weeks. I walked into the office in early January 2016 for my appointment. I waited fifteen minutes before I asked to check in. Then I was told whole system was down. They don’t have me for an appointment on their sheet and I would have to call and schedule an appointment. Are you serious? Two and half months for X-Rays. Negative experience beware. Two thumbs down.
The only positive thing I can about this place is the receptionist/dental hygienist was courteous and friendly but I cannot say that about the female dentists who run the place. Don’t waste your time. You would be lucky if you ever get to sit on a dental chair.
Dr. Schwartz and her staff are knowledgeable, friendly and patient. I can always get through on the phone contrary to what others have said in reviews. They always acknowledge me when I come in and I don’t have to wait very long to be seen. Over the many years I have been going to this office, there have been a couple of hygienists and one part-time dentist who were not great but they were not kept around long-term and that has happened in other practices as well. They have worked successfully with my insurance to keep my costs as low as possible. Dr. Schwartz is a skilled dentist!
