Please avoid Dr. Williamson. He is my parent’s dentist (hopefully they will listen to me and switch dentists). I saw him 13 years ago for a filling. After, for years, I have had toothaches where that filling was. Dentists I have seen since have told me the filling was done way too deep, and this is why it causes such pain. 2 weeks ago, I had a dental emergency while visiting my parents. They convinced me to see Dr. Williamson. Against my better judgement I agreed, thinking I will give him the benefit of the doubt–maybe it was not his fault the other filling was too deep. Bad bad decision. He ended up doing a small filling for me but neglecting to notice that the bite was way too high. At dinner that evening, I bit on some food and felt terrible pain in my lower tooth. I came in the next day to see him. Dr. Williamson looked at the bite again and immediately said it was too high (umm, why didn’t he notice when he actually did the filling?). He didn’t bother doing an x-ray of my mouth but merely looked at my tooth with a little mirror and said that my bottom tooth was not cracked, that it was merely inflamed. His treatment was to put some coating on my tooth and recommend Sensodyne toothpaste. Despite doing this, the pain got worse. I called the emergency on call dentist later that evening who told me it sounded like a cracked tooth–all the symptoms, the pain, cold sensitivity etc. points to that. He told me an x-ray should have been done at the time. I had to move to another province the next day–and Dr. Williamson knew that. So negligent to have not bothered to have done an X-ray on my tooth. Seems lazy frankly, too. I never write bad reviews, but in the interests of the public, i think that this one is most warranted. Dr. Williamson has a lovely bedside manner, but let’s face it–what we really need in a dentist, is someone who does a good job, is thorough, and takes the effort to make sure that their work is properly done. Thanks to this guy, i now have terrible pain on the two teeth he has operated on–both on opposite sides of my mouth. I might have to have my tooth extracted and replaced. Avoid at all costs.
Knowing I’m going to be treated by the Colwood Dental Group, I always feel so at ease, before, during and after each appointment. Each person on staff is so wonderfully attentive. Without exception, I’ve had great service from friendly and high-skilled hygienists. And I am so grateful to have Dr. Sahara Mistry as my dentist. She is so amazingly skilled, wonderfully friendly, and caring, so informative and answers any questions fully. All the staff at Colwood Dental Group… what an awesome team!
I was fairly nervous to have my first dental work done as a adult but Dr. Williamson and Kim were fantastic. Calm, diligent and friendly, Dr. Williamson made sure I understood the process and I can happily say it was painless and efficient. I will be returning for all future dental needs as this experience was terrific. Thank you Dr. Williamson!
