Went to Einsteinstraat again yesterday because I had some problems with my molar. I ate some pop-corn, and I munched it like I never got anything to eat at home. This resulted in having a hard piece of corn, which broke my filling. So, made an appointment, that was yesterday (June 20th), I was nervous as years before! Also, ever since I started with TCN as my dentist, I was always afraid, and nervous, so I always used laughing gas (Nitrous oxide) for treatments. I also only wanted to get treated by Michael Vlaanderen, as he was my dentist, and I really felt comfortable with him treating me. But, now I got Bart Vlaanderen, and I really can tell, he is really a great dentist! In the beginning, as a new dentist (to me) it felt a little scary, as I didn’t know his way of treating people. But since a few times this also faded, and now I feel completely comfortable with him treating me. Yesterday I even said I wanted to try without Nitrous oxide once, and he really supported me in this idea. So, we didn’t use it, and he really made me feel comfortable, he also guided me through getting the sedation injections, which went pretty well. The gentle way he used the needle, made me almost not even feel it. He also asked me how he could make it a bit more comfortable for me, and suggested to put on some music. So I said, yeah, sure, let’s listen to some rap/hiphop then I guess. So he looked up a hiphop channel, and there we go. Listening to some hiphop beats, we went through this treatment, and I felt completely comfortable again, even though I was really nervous, and I really haven’t felt like this in years. But, we did it, and without nitrous oxide even. Thank you again Bart for the treatment, thank you for being a great dentist! I really appreciate it.
At the end he said I did great, but I still don’t think I did anything much, as he is the one doing all the work, and making me feel comfortable, while I was crazy nervous. It was done within 15/20 minutes, not even that long. Sedation also didn’t even work that long, back home I could still eat my pizza which I really wanted, and the sedation was worked out about 4 hours later or so. So that was okay as well.

Thank you guys for being a great dentist, and thanks to Bart I can now eat with the right side again, which I didn’t dare because of the loosened filling. I can keep repeating how great it was, and how great it went, but I think ya get the point by now.

Na zoveel jaar geen tandarts durven bezoeken, wegens dat ik extreem bang ben, vandaag intake gehad voor narcose behandeling, de intake viel me alles mee, hele aardige damens die dat gedaan hebben, ben helaas namen al vergeten door mijn stress. Ze hebben foto’s gemaakt, goede uitleg gegeven en verteld wat er gedaan moest worden. Alles viel me nog mee wat moet gebeuren na zoveel jaar geen tandarts.
Nogmaals wel mijn excuus naar de damens toe omtrent mijn opmerking dat je alleen tandarts kan worden als je een bloedhekel heb aan mensen, helaas is deze visie voor mij ontwikkeld in de jaren bij tandartsen beginnende in mijn zeer jonge jaren. Jullie zijn kundig en rustig en weten toch goed met angstpatienten overweg te kunnen, was zowaar rustiger dan verwacht. Dus raad zeker andere extreme angstpatienten aan om toch de sprong te wagen en eventueel een intake te doen. Voor mij is het nu nog wat vragen invullen en wachten op de daadwerkelijke behandeling, maar zou blij wezen als ik weer een gezond gebid heb en kan werken om in de toekomst met minder angst naar de tandarts te gaan en eventueel weer gewoon behandeld kan worden zonder narcose.
Nogmaals de damens van de intake super bedankt voor het begrip ondanks mijn onaardige opmerking, want jullie voeren eigenlijk een beroep uit voor het welzijn van de mensen, inplaats dat jullie een hekel aan ze hebben, en jullie houden echt rekening met de situatie en angst van de patient

So getting a new dentist is always scary, and especially when you move abroad.
But here, the experience was pleasant and my dentist Bart have gone above and beyond to help me, getting me in on the day and removing my infected wisdom tooth (when the dentist tell you to remove a wisdom tooth, I highly recommend to do it). My previous experience with a dentist in the U.K. removing a wisdom tooth was anything but pleasant, but Bart did it so smoothly and it was like a dream to get it out.
He’s also fixed a couple of cavities for me, and really gentle with it each time. If you want to get a dentist in Alkmaar I can highly recommend tcn.
Reception – lovely with top people ready to take care of you.
Dentist and dentist assistants – full of knowledge and makes you feel at ease . 10/10!

Edit, need to take away two stars after going there for severe pain in my tooth, they said it was my gums, went back two times and then got a new opinion at another dentist, turns out one of my roots have an infection. I’ve been going with severe pain for two months and they didn’t check it properly. So yeah, now I need to spend even more money..
