LONG STORY SHORT —
For all, but especially for “CRUNCHY” type people on Medicaid : I would come here for cleanings, but not for more invasive dental work with the actual Dr.
& for young KIDS : I wouldn’t recommend. Go to a pediatric dentist that has TVs on the ceiling / a playground and such (for someone who is on Medicaid, I recommend Idaho Falls Pediatric Dentistry).

LONG STORY —
I don’t like giving 3 star reviews because usually people just look at the 5 stars or the 1-2 stars, but there are some pros and some cons to Strobel’s.

There’s a sign on their office wall that says they’ll give you a gift card for a good review. I was planning to give a better review, until I met Dr. Dirk Strobel himself.

I’m going to give you my honest, unbiased, unincentivized impression.

Pros:
– Jordan, my hygienist, was GREAT. She was a good communicator, kind, friendly, thorough, and gentle with the tools. She was also respectful of my wish to have no flouride. She also took the initiative to look into the information I had questions on after I left.
-The secretary at the front desk was kind and friendly as well. She checked me in, and they called me back right away.
-I called on a Saturday to schedule an appointment and got in the next Monday.
-Their business manager texted me back promptly (within 2 hours after my appointment) with the information and links for more info.

For a basic cleaning with the hygienist, I had a 5-star experience.

Cons:
-The material they told me they use for fillings is a composite that releases fluoride or the metal amalgam (mercury) fillings
-When it was my turn to have Dr. Dirk Strobel see me, he pointed out the teeth with cavities on my xrays, and looked in my mouth for a couple seconds. I had a few questions ( probably more than the average person they see ). He answered a couple briefly, but while I was still asking questions, he got up, and walked into his office which was next door. I continued asking the hygienist my questions, as Dr. Strobel walked out the door with his coat on. I understand being on a schedule, but better communication would have been appreciated instead of just walking out. It was weird, tbh.

After that, I went back to the reviews here and read the negative ones, and if you’ve already read any with Dr. Strobel seeming a bit rushed, those seem accurate to my experience. I don’t want to run that risk with a drill.

Great service. I was seen with efficiency, even with my insurance information being emailed & difficult. The filling was quickly replaced. There seems to be a lot of talk in the reviews about the numbing not being enough. I think Dr. Strobel read those comments and was careful to give me enough numbing shots, & leave it to numb up for awhile before working on my teeth.
Super homey vibes, and the people are really kind. When you come in you’ve got to wash your hands and rince with mouth wash.

The staff are so friendly! My favorite part was before I walked in the back to get work done they thoughly let me know what out of pocket cost would be and let me choose what I wanted. Dr Strobel is very honest and let me know the best possible solution for things. I understand there’s lots of dentist in Rexburg, but you are missing out if you don’t give Dr Strobels dentistry a try! Super grateful for how friendly everyone was because they made my day better!
