My experience as a patient of Dr Barb Whetmore’s, or “Dr Barb” as she prefers to be called, has been extremely positive, productive and astonishingly comforting since I became a Sunflower Dental patient 14 months ago. Dr Barb undertook a comprehensive assessment of my teeth and gums immediately, reviewed my oral care and designed a detailed and transparent treatment plan. Dr Barb and various members of her highly skilled staff were refreshingly transparent in reviewing all the X-rays, photos and analysis with me that supported their recommendations. They very clearly prioritized by urgency their recommended procedures, provided an itemized list of work and anticipated costs. At 63 years old and seeing dentists for over five decades, I have never witnessed this level of transparency. Dr Barb and her staff have since expertly replaced a previous failed implant from a different provider; provided a new implant for a tooth they were closely watching; and prepped a tooth for an additional implant. Dr Barb’s expertise in implants is clear from her explanations of what she is doing while providing treatment, and the grace, finesse and focus she exhibits when performing these procedures. It is clear Dr Barb is highly skilled and a perfectionist at the craft of oral surgery. I’m not sure about anyone else, but I highly value these characteristics in the person performing anything as critical as oral surgery in my mouth. As for results, the implants, bone grafts, tooth extractions, and crowns have all yielded superior results. The implants feel stronger and more powerful than the actual teeth they replaced. In fact, Dr Barb and her staff use photos and X-rays immediately following the completion of a procedure to make the patient understand why said treatment was successful. One thing to keep in mind is that when Dr Barb and her outstanding assistants work on you, they are entirely focused on YOU, the patient. You may be in treatment for two or three hours, as I have experienced. But Dr Barb provides a relaxing, comforting and calming environment. The chairs gently massage, the music is customized to your tastes and the decor bright and tasteful. The entire office feel leans much more in the direction of a home den and very away from a clinical, passionless, hospital environment. It also needs to be mentioned that Dr Barb, the dental specialists, Dr Justin Lieneck and the front desk staff treat their patients with uncharacteristic respect and caring. I know this from my own experiences and observations of the staff’s interactions with other patients. Finally, the transparency I cited earlier with respect to treatment also extends to the fees that are charged. The very reasonably priced services are clearly displayed and explained. Insurance estimates are factored into their costs and the practice’s pipeline to insurance providers seems to flow well in both directions. So I will end my report at this point, though I could say more, but I think my thesis is clear. I’m a fan of Dr Barb Whetmore, Dr Justin Lieneck and the Sunflower Dental team. Please give them try.

The sunflower spa is topnotch from the front desk to the music to the care delivered by dr.barb..you can actually have a dental discussion with this dentist…in otherwords she is talented at being a people person..while I am close to 80 I have had lots of dental issues and her practice rates right up there with the treatments I received at UM dental school…for those of you who don’t know the dental school was #1 and dr. Barb is tied for #1!!!! NOTE:I HAD CROWNS AND TOP PLATE

I can honestly say it has been so difficult to find amazing prenatal dental care and I have to rave about Dr. Wetmore. She puts your comfort and needs first. Recommends the best and most affordable option first. She is great when it comes to comfort especially since I’m well into my 3rd trimester she made sure I was comfortable the whole time. 10/10 go to Sunflower Dental Spa and see Dr. Wetmore!!
