Went to my cleaning today and the dental hygienist was great. I did however feel a bit of pressure to complete the “annual” exam, which I didn’t have time for nor did I anticipate for this visit. When I was checking out I told the office lady that I had changed insurance- which was promptly greeted with “well, if you don’t have your information you will have to pay upfront and then be refunded later”! I told her I was not willing to do that- and asked if she could take the 5 mins to look it up! She did that and all was well. I know from previous experience here that being refunded will become a nightmare. The billing department is not especially good, in my opinion. I also want to note that I missed a previous cleaning that was booked 6+months out. I rely heavily upon the reminder notices given the amount of time in between appts. I received a call that morning at work asking if I was still planing to go to my appt- I told them I wasn’t even aware that I had one and checked my text messages at that time. I did find a reminder that was sent less than 11 hours before my appt. I went to bed early the night before so didn’t receive it. While on the phone I was told how I would be paying for that missed visit! The person I was talking with was not at all customer service friendly and to be honest had a tone! I really took offense to that, and thought about changing dentists. I feel like today put it back into perspective- they are VERY money driven- and I honestly don’t care for that!
I have been with Dr. Burton for 15 years. My family has been with her for 15 years. I love Dr. Burton. She is a wonderful dentist, professional, and state of the art. Unfortunately, her billing department is a bit of a nightmare. Currently after 15 years, I am interviewing new dentists. Her billing department informed me that they will not bill our secondary dental insurance. Also, we need to pay upfront what our secondary insurance might pay only to get a refund down the road. I am not going to make this story long but this is ridiculous.
When I was referred to Dr. Burton I was told what a wonderful doctor she was but be careful and watch the billing because the billing department is a bit of a nightmare. That was 15 years ago. I don’t know what happened to Christina but she was awesome and I loved her and she had been there for like 10 years. She’s now gone. And now they’re billing department is telling me they will not bill our secondary insurance and we have to pay the difference up front.
The other problem unfortunately is their hours. They are not open Friday Saturday or Sunday.

Interviewing other dentists. I love Dr. Burton, but I am leaving because of her staff.

Professional, friendly staff! Extremely close to our home! Dental hygienist was so sweet (Betsy) and thorough. I was excited to have my teeth cleaned by a hygienist!
Dr. Burton is calm and knowledgeable. It’s a pleasure to be establishing with a new dentist since ours retired. Thank you Regency dental for taking us on as patients as well as seeing us during this busy holiday season!
