Our family has relied upon Dr. Pettigrew and his team for the past 6-7 years and we have always been satisfied. They are very friendly, professional, and capable. They are also very proactive with screening for cavities, gum disease, and head cancers, which is wonderful.

I docked a star because this is a case where you get what you pay for. They provide top-quality care but their prices are quite high and even though both my partner and I have good dental coverage through our jobs, we still have to pay substantial bills each time we go to the dentist because the fees for this clinic are quite high relative to the provincial caps.

Update 2024: We’ve now transitioned to another dentist in the neighbourhood as the quality of care at this location has dropped in recent years. There has been a lot of turnover of the hygienists, dentists, and front office staff and the team is not what it once was. Lately we’ve found that appointments are often cancelled or rescheduled at the last minute due to staff shortages. We also had a few not great experiences with our kids dental care. The new staff are perfectly proficient with kids (ours are 4&7) but they treat them like adults, which isn’t the best way to make a young child comfortable at the dentist. We’ve moved down the street and our new provider is amazing with kids. We’re glad we moved on.

I recently made my first visit to this clinic after my dentist of over 20 years informed me that he would not take payment from the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Dr. Pettigrew’s clinic does and, during my visit, it became clear that the staff were well versed on how to deal within the insurance plan. My phone call to book an appointment was pleasant and efficiently handled. I was provided with a patient information form to complete online before my visit. The 2 receptionists were waiting for me upon my arrival and my wait was very brief. Dental Hygienist (Madhi) was very pleasant and thorough in taking comprehensive Xrays and cleaning my teeth. Dr. Ambar, also very pleasant and thorough examined my mouth and recommended some minor treatment that will be addressed in the next few days. Everything was explained to me very clearly. The modern facility is well equipped and actually pleasant to visit. I am VERY IMPRESSED.

Update: I received a text the next business day providing me with a follow up appointment 2 days later. The procedure had been pre-approved by the CDCP. Dr. Ambar performed the fillings efficiently and without pain (my choice not to have the teeth/gums frozen).

Dr. Ambar and his staff are great. They’re really polite and they LISTEN!! This is such an important part of dentistry that a lot of parents underestimate, but Dr Ambar and the Dr Pettigrew Staff have shown nothing but patience, understanding, and kindness. I had to get a filling re done a few times due to the structure of one of my molars and they always expressed concern and care for when I would tell them I was feeling unpleasant sensations afterwards. They are all very kind people, especially Shauna and I can’t remember the name of the other lady at the front desk. Nowadays many dentists are greedy and arrogant but this office is far from that.
