Although they do nice work on your teeth, do not expect them to treat you nicely if you are not a wealthy family. If you have not seen a dentist in a long time, they will make you feel nervous and condescend and talk down to you about the fact that you have not seen a dentist. If you are paying them any amount out of pocket from your insurance, they will not work with you, they will claim that they will and then surprise you at your appointment with canceling and refusing to see you.

I showed up ready to pay a couple hundred dollars off a bill that was surprisingly applied to my account and mailed months after the last time I had seen them with no communication from their office. Apparently my insurance had, for some reason, not covered the majority of the bill as they had in the past. No communication was made about it at all.

They will make claims that they’ve talked to you multiple times when they haven’t, they will make claims that they have sent you letters that they haven’t, and then if you try to show up for an appointment they will pull a gotcha about owing them money. And despite having half the bill in hand, they still refuse to see me.

It was really disappointing after working with them for this long and having given them so much money. Plus the times that they have canceled when I was pulling in because they overbooked, which was more than once, and I have taken it in stride both times. Not worth it. We all know how anxiety producing dentistry is for people who have not grown up with a dentist all their lives and are trying to do catch up work. As much as I appreciate the quality of the work, do not go there expecting to be treated well if you are brown and not wealthy.

I had been going there for 15 years up until my retirement this past July when we moved to FL. These folks are wonderful! My hope is that we are able to find a dentist office here that comes close to the service and care I received at Dr Duthies office. A big shout to Cerice (sp)and Dr Greg Subtelme, will miss you guys!

Long – open office, trustworthy and comfortable. Just had my first visit with Ashley as my hygienist and she was wonderful! Kind staff and informative, thorough.. will tell you how much it will be and relieving sticker shock. Coming back for the rest of the time I’m in Ithaca.
