Reviews:
Dr Lucy Gilbart is wonderful. She has reassuring hands when she is working on your dental problems. You can just feel her strong confidence. I respect her opinions of what needs to be done and her expert ability to do it.
However, I can’t say the same about whoever her dental assistant is in the Hagerstown office. I’ll just have to call her “Hey You” because in two visits she never bothered to introduce herself to me. Unfriendly and clumsy is the best description of this girl. She didn’t offer the courtesy to explain what she was trying to do in the back of my mouth before Dr Lucy came into the room. After I inquired, she said she was trying to build up a tooth with wax for a temporary crown. I think the dentist is better trained for this. “Hey You” was using way too much wax during several failed attempts. Worst of all, she pinched my upper lip against a tooth several times with careless pressure from her fingers and cut the skin inside my lip as she carelessly reached into my mouth to apply the excess amount of wax. This happened multiple times until she finally asked me why I was flinching. She didn’t care at all about my discomfort. Dr Lucy entered the room and applied the wax properly on the first attempt. “Hey You” should find another line of work where her rough and unfriendly nature would be better accepted.

An overall bad experience. If you want to leave a dental office feeling like you’ve wasted time and money, this is the office for you. Once I chose a treatment that they didn’t provide, they were done with me. I expressed a legitimate concern about bleeding during dental surgery to which the doctor didn’t even respond. I also had to ask if they planned to prescribe medicine. That was the reason I went there. I could have scheduled an appointment with the dental surgeon myself without their referral. I knew I would need an antibiotic beforehand.
Also, having the chairs facing away from the door so that the patient can’t see who is walking up behind them does nothing to soothe dental anxiety. It took me a week to get what I considered an emergency visit, and then left there feeling shamed and like I didn’t matter.
The service was fine and on time. I was not happy with what they told me I needed but it is what it is. Linda at the front counter was great. Set up my next appointment and gave me options on times for my work that needs to be done.
On my last visit I had an extraction and Dr Lucy and her staff were the best. Everything went well and I was given instructions on what to do and what not to do. Thanks to everyone!
