Reviews:
Quite a while has passed since I have been to this dentist but I feel like now is the time to bring it up

I first visited the surgery back in early 2022 after experiencing severe dental pain. I had a cavity and we arranged to have a root canal procedure. No issues here

The first part of the procedure went well and I was given a second date to complete the procedure. No issues here

A week after the hollowing of my tooth it shattered in my mouth. I had to go and get emergency care back in London where I was visiting at the time.

The problems started when I called this practice up regarding my tooth. They told me it would have to be removed and i was provided a few dates. Due to NOT being in Coventry and having no way to be there on short notice, I DID NOT confirm an appointment.

Fast forward a fews days or so, I got a call from the surgery manager asking me why I hadn’t shown up for my appointment. Extremely confused, I insisted that I had not confirmed the appointment as I would have had not be able to physically be there at such short notice due to other commitments. The manger spoke to the colleague who “”””arranged”””the appointment with me and they were adamant that I confirmed with them. ( I do not recall if reminder calls/texts are sent out, but I must also stress I didn’t even get one of those which really adds to the mystery)
I asked for the recording of the call to prove my innocence however they don’t use call recordings
I was then told I would have to pay a deposit to attend any further appointments, which hit me personally as at the time I was a struggling uni student who has to pick between PS20 dental deposit, food and fuel to get to work.
With support from my friends I was able to visit a different appointment and a couple of different dentists. Some wouldn’t touch my tooth, one said they could refill it, one quoted me 1k for removal but told me that there was a risk of my teeth moving. I felt so lost as I hadn’t been told of the the risks of the removal process by this practice

At the end of the day mistakes happened. That’s just the reality of life. I am aware of the financial implications of missed appointments on practices. After being in the service industry for most of my working life I understand the importance of supporting your colleagues in situations like this. However as a result I’m still in the same position with the shattered tooth as I couldn’t afford treatment after losing a lot of trust in this practice and dentistry in general and extremely self conscious about my breath. I deserve the care I paid for.

I’m very, very phobic of dentists (asperger’s so the sensation is unbearable). Also, my ‘regular’ dentist who I see once a decade has gone majorly downhill into a cowboy operation, so I was even more nervous about going to a small-ish local surgery.

Don’t let the size / location fool you; Hillfields Dental Surgery are pros. I had a scale & polish, and a filling replacement. The injection for the filling replacement was almost completely painless! I did not know this was even possible. The dentist was very calm & welcoming, procedure was completed with no problems and the filling itself looks fantastic (more importantly, I can chew & brush again without wincing).

Will definitely be back for regular checkups, and will choose this surgery when I’m finally ready to have my front tooth filling (accounting for half the tooth) converted to something more permanent.

I went for a cleaning and a filling and didn’t even finish the appointment because the assistant nurse was looking away whilst she was supposed to be removing the water from my mouth but instead began sucking my lips and tongue with the suction machine as my mouth filled with blood and saliva almost choking on it, and my dentist butchering my gums, instead of cleaning my teeth, he was scraping my gum and didn’t know what he was doing. These were clearly trainees and should be monitored during practise, I have been to multiple dentist’s for the same treatment, both private and NHS and have never experienced such a lack of professionalism as this. I made sure to be respectful and cordial during the entire process. The administrator was also very unprofessional. Beware of this dental surgery!
