Reviews:
I am surprised it is two stars. But I am glad with the service. Our original dental turned us down but We were not turn down by this hospital. It offers Full service. There are highly qualified dental surgeons there, and there are also some 5 stars reviews, I decided to support my neighborhood hospital to keep it from closing. I am not regretting at all. My Mom is 90 year old, minority, have hearing lost and does not speak English. The front desk receptionist is very busy. She let us know she will take care of us when this is our turn. Yes, she is loud but it’s ALSO a lot of patients were difficult to deal with, don’t have paperwork ready, on the cell phones, etc…while the front desk were helping them. So let’s be fair about it. Give respect first. Have paperwork, ID care and insurance ready. When it’s our turn, she asked what language we need translation. There is a poster with different country flags and we point at it. So,she is able to register quickly. Most of the front desk can speak English or Spanish. If something else you get help with a tele translator. Once we are registered, the x ray technician called us right on time. It has a 360 round x ray machine. So it’s quick and easy. She was tall and was very kind. She told Mom to take her time because my Mom hardy can walk. Then the technician took us to see the oral surgeon Dr. Cheung. Because we brought all my Mom paperwork 1. primary care lab test 2. pharmacist records and 3. primary dental records ( her dentist referral her out to Jamaica hospital for surgery), 4. Surgery referral letter, Dr. Cheung was able to determine my Mom condition is clear to pull her teeth. He also explained the after care do and don’t and follow up visits with the help of the virtual translator. We follow his instructions and extremely careful not to contaminate the dressing and change dressing as instructions. My Mom recovery only took 2days with minimal pain and almost no bleeding after 3 hours. This hospital staff are busy and they showed cares for the elderly patients. Please understand they are busy and just wait your turn. When you give respect you get respect back, usually. By the way, make sure you put your name on the card the dentist gave you to give to the front desk. Sometimes they are too busy or got distracted when we ask questions. So I will definitely make sure like the diamond ring to have my name on it. Thanks from the Leung’s family
I got a pulpotomy done at this place in February of this year (2024)! The dentist who did the pulpotomy did a decent job on the tooth, but i do recall him being very AGGRESSIVE with the needle he used for the local anesthesia! The needle was aimed more toward my THROAT THAN ANYTHING! At first i thought it was normal so i gave him a good review but now i understand why my THROAT WAS IN PAIN FOR DAYS, and still feels weird to this day! I NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS WHEN GETTING LOCAL ANESTHESIA! After the pulpotomy was done, I was scheduled to come back for a root canal on March 26, 2024. When I came back for my appointment I seen a different dentist and all she did was some cleaning along with a x-ray. I stated to her “I’m here for a root canal, what’s going on”? She stated “your here for a cleaning and a x-ray”. I then left without a date to come back but was told “call us back in four(4) week to see if you’re insurance was approved for the root canal”. I have STRAIGHT MEDICAID, ALL THATS REQUIRED IS A IN HOUSE APPROVAL! WHY WAS I GIVEN FALSE INFORMATION REGARDING THE APPROVAL? Most importantly, I was a patient coming from the EMERGENCY ROOM AROUND THE CORNER! Being that they were not trying to help me, I showed up unannounced on April 4, 2024 requesting that something be done with the temporary filing i was given as a result of the pulpotomy that was done. I also requested help for a unrelated tooth that was bothering me and was told by a older lady(Supervisor) that “because I’m a adult I’m not covered for root canals, only 18 years and under are covered”. I was then given a referral to NYU DENTISTRY(Endodontics) FOR THE UNRELATED TOOTH THAT WAS BOTHERING ME. I WILL BE UPLOADING THE REFERRAL SO THE WORLD CAN SEE! LONG STORY SHORT, there’s been no follow up after the pulpotomy was done! Still to this day I’m walking around with a TEMPORARY FILING AND WAS GIVEN A NEW ONE BY NYU DENTISTRY! This filing has broken into pieces and I’ve even swallowed some of it! A pulpotomy is NEVER a standalone procedure. Something else – some kind of follow-up step procedure has to be done after removing the pulp. In most cases, that follow-up procedure is a root canal. Shame on these people! I will also be complaining against NYU as well, cause they have yet to do ANYTHING! This is definitely a case of MEDICAL MALPRACTICE! MY THROAT IS HURTING AS I TYPE THIS REVIEW! SOMETHING SINISTER WAS DONE!
For service I would give 5 stars however I want to be honest. The wait time is terrible. there is no direct number to get in contact with the office instead you are directed to a call center. even the wait to speak to someone at the call center is about an hour. The dentists here are so good I was willing to bear the wait however with my most recent experience I cannot. I called in and waited an hour to speak to a call center representative I explained to them that I need a follow-up from my last appointment as well as having a cracked fill in which is causing me a lot of pain. yes (I know that have an emergency walk in however because I’m a walk in they’re only going to address the issue that is causing me pain I then will have to miss work again to get another appointment) at the end of the call the representative tells Me that I would receive a call back within 3-5 days. Two weeks went by and no call back so I decided to call again. I explained my issue again and let the representative know that I never received a callback. the representative was very apologetic and told me that he would put in the. notes to expedite the callback. here we are another 2 weeks with no appointment, no callback, still have a cracked filling, and still in pain. there’s no way to appreciate good service if you cannot even receive the service. at this point, I will no longer use this Dental office.
