This review is long overdue, yet still very much deserved/warranted. several years ago, I experienced a painful dental emergency and personal crisis. I was new to the Davis area and knew no one for a personal experience recommendation. Additionally, because of past dental trauma, I had / have significant anxiety associated with dentists/ dental procedures.

Following a search in the area for ” kind, compassionate dentists who work with patients with dental anxiety” and I was that specific with search criteria, Dr. James Childress and his staff were at the top of the list and also received nothing but positive comments from all patients and, thankfully, accepted my dental insurance.
Reluctant to even place a call even though I was satisfied with search results, I contacted his office and in tears, explained my situation. From the very first contact with his receptionist, I was respectfully listened to, and my fear was acknowledged without judgment. I made the appointment and surprisingly did not cancel, which I had many times in the past.

This appointment was very close to Christmas/Winter holidays and it entailed a couple of appointments to complete to ease the pain and aesthetically address my problem. I was treated with such kindness and compassion and throughout the procedures, never once was I in pain. They went above and beyond to ensure that this happened at a very busy time for them before the holidays.

There are simply not adequate words to express how personable yet unequivocally, professional, Dr. Childress and his staff treated me. Although I had more advanced procedures and work that needed to be done, he did not overwhelm me with what should be done but focused on what was my immediate need to alleviate first and foremost, pain and restore aesthetically with a comfortable, affordable practical solution. It was the best Christmas gift I have received in a long time. Dr. Childress not only restored my smile, he restored my faith in dentistry.

As I mentioned, this review is long overdue, and it was prompted by a very kind birthday greeting from his staff via text. It was wonderful to hear from them and while I am no longer a patient because I am no longer in Davis, I will always be beyond grateful to him and his staff and I highly recommend him and his practice- with 5 stars and then some.

There isn’t a better dental office in Davis! The staff are friendly and excellent, the office is beautiful, calming and clean. Dr Childress is on another level in dentistry. I’ve been with him for close to 40 years, and he was amazing when I started with him, and he’s even better now. He’s very particular, keeps up with the latest in dentistry, and is a genuinely lovely person. My hygienist Lori is so talented as well. Also a perfectionist, very detailed and a lovely person! Can not say enough great things about them!

The best dental care you can imagine. The hygienist is very gentle and thorough and goes beyond that to answer all questions. The information has proven to be invaluable. The dentist is superlative, helping me to have a healthy mouth. Staff is always friendly, professional and helpful. Best of all is the good music and sense of humor.
