Unable to diagnose my dead tooth.

My visit was for a sore tooth. When the doctor came in, I explained my problem. I said I was having sensitivity and pressure issues with my tooth, which had been going on for a few weeks.

The doctor took a look at my X-rays and examined my mouth. After examining me for only two or three minutes, he stood up and gave his diagnosis.

He said, “You might have a crack. You have a very deep filling, and those are hard to see. Vertical cracks are virtually impossible to see on X-rays. The only way we can tell if it is cracked is for your tooth to break. If your tooth breaks, that would confirm that your tooth was cracked. I don’t like talking about crowns, but you might need one. For right now, let’s see what happens.”

Trusting that was the diagnosis, I left the office. I experienced pain for two more weeks. I woke up one day in excruciating pain and made an appointment for a second opinion.

The second dentist conducted a thorough review. They checked my tooth for cold sensitivity and performed a pulp vitality test. The two tests confirmed that I had a dead tooth.

I am beyond baffled how this was missed the first time. I feel my care was negligent.

Wow. This is THE best dentist office I have ever been to! The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. The hygienist did her best to make sure I felt okay throughout the cleaning. Dr. Slaven thoroughly explain what he would be doing and did his absolute best to make sure I felt comfortable throughout the procedure. They all listened to my concerns about everything. Just wow!! If you need a dentist I would absolutely recommend Dr. Slaven.

Dr. Slaven is extremely patient and thorough. He spent as much time as I needed to ease my concerns and answer ALL questions I had. He understood my concerns and anticipated future issues. His staff is also very polite and professional. There, I feel like a person, not just a patient.
