I was very satisfied with my own visit and by the kindness of the staff, like giving my toddler daughter a toothbrush because my older daughter was given one. Something I found so frustrating that I likely will not return was my four year old daughter’s visit. Once before, she had her teeth cleaned by instruments in the dental chair and the 100 dollar charge felt reasonably justified (I have no insurance for her). This is in comparison for the 20 dollar charge for two and under, which involves a manual toothbrush cleaning. However, previously , since Lydia got past two, Lydia’s teeth were cleaned with a manual brush, and the hygienist actually said she was not going to bother because Lydia was afraid, so I brushed them myself. I was charged $100 because she was past 2, and I refuted it based on the service level and was given the charge for the younger child. Today, the workers were behind and gave Lydia a 30 second manual brushing in a chair that a hygienist might sit in, saying they didn’t want to dirty a regular patient chair. Given the level of service I expected the lower charge, but no it was 100 bucks based on age alone. I complained and was given a free fluoride treatment for her (additional $20 charge) but the $100 cost stood. This gave me the feeling this practice cares more about money than patient care, and that this must be a regular practice to get through small children when they get behind. Lydia had really looked forward to a real cleaning and choosing her toothpaste, and it was disappointing as well as rather infuriating about the money.
I have yet to meet an unpleasant person in this office. I’m a relatively new patient, yet the office staff addresses me by name and has usually begun to check me in before I even get to the desk. I have not dealt with Dr Farr, but Dr Barker has been phenomenal! I had some trouble after an extraction (not caused by him, but by the fact that my body never reacts to ANYTHING the way normal peoples’ bodies do ), and twice he made time in his schedule to deal with the issue. He never made me feel like an annoyance. Most important of all, though I’m on Medicaid, all of them, including Dr Barker, give me the same time and attention as any other patient. Lakeview Pointe Dentistry is probably the best dental office I’ve been to in over 15 years.
Had an appointment for my 4 year old daughter today. They were running behind so asked if they could do it quicker than the full exam. They didn’t want to get an exam chair dirty so they brushed her teeth in a waiting chair with a regular toothbrush and toothpaste and charged for a full professional cleaning. They didn’t even brush her teeth as well as we do at home.
Last time they did this they gave a discount on the cleaning but this time they wouldn’t discount it.
We will not be going back.
