I included my estimate below of the dental work needed for my wisdom teeth. This estimate was about $500 out of pocket that I was aware of (I was originally fine with this number). Magically once everything was said and done with my insurance I am paying about $700+ out of pocket and wondering where was this is noted my estimate (it’s about a $200 difference). I ask for an itemized list the math is not adding up and I can’t make numbers that I don’t have magically appear. I ask the office, then my primary, secondary, and even my medical how am I still paying for this procedure. After playing cat and mouse with everyone the office overestimated how much the insurance would pay. Therefore giving me the customer an estimate that was less than I was actually gonna pay out of pocket.
All that I asked of the manager is to note this to customers with my particular insurance under the UFT this procedure is NOT covered. She proceed to explain why that I needed to know that prior to coming in and it’s not on them since it is an “estimate” even though it $200 off ( I would no longer call that an estimate at that point it’s just wrong).
So please do some people a favor get an accurate representation of your out-of-pocket numbers. Became a frustrating experience when you’re constantly paying for something you have no idea what you’re paying for.
EDIT on 8/27 to reflect that I had a second visit. This time I was met with a cold, condescending, unfriendly doctor who walked into the exam room, didn’t bother to introduce himself, and spoke to me like I was his naughty 5yo. Quite a different experience from the first time.
