If anybody is looking for a dentist, I absolutely do not suggest Manteno Family Dental.

This post is not to bash their organization, but to be honest about my experience.

The doctor never was a problem, but Linda at the front desk was the absolute worst to my family.

She’s not prompt. Doesn’t return phone calls. Takes no accountability when she makes an error.

She’s always been very prude and down right ignorant on the phone every time we have had a conversation. Almost handling situations in a belittling way. I have a right to know about what services I will receive, what I need to do as far as my insurance, etc any normal questions any patient would ask their provider when in their care without being rushed off the phone. I should be comfortable that my dental office has my best interest at heart in all aspects.

My kids did really well with Dr Slavin, and it’s unfortunate we have now switched dental offices due to the lack of patient service. Absolutely NO patient service to be exact. I gave it time because my kids were comfortable, but her demeanor makes me uncomfortable (especially coming from a healthcare background myself.)

For myself, they literally demanded I have other services done that were not required to fix a cavity that I had that hurt like no other. I checked with my insurance and other sources and they all said it’s absurd to ask that of a patient to get them done just for a triage. So she strung me along with that and making me get an authorization that I did my part and followed up on and she even said they won’t authorize it for and that’s another source that said why are they asking to have this done for this particular problem. That’s why they are aren’t authorizing it! Complete waste of time and the dental experience terrible.

After countless other problems, and acting as though our Medicaid insurance is beneath them or an inconvenience to deal with (EVEN THOUGH YOU CHOOSE TO BE IN NETWORK WITH THEM) she went as far as to leave a voicemail on my phone stating, “If you happen to win the lottery or something… or if you can somehow afford the services we would be happy to give you a slight discount or you can find another provider. ” I never complained of my insurance or needing an authorization, didn’t even complain about a possible denial but this was her 1st RETURN phone call to myself after I just simply wanted to follow up on my status with insurance. A simple apology saying I was inappropriate would have solved wonders, but instead she said didn’t leave that voicemail. When in fact I have that voicemail.

I have no problem paying out of pocket for things that my insurance denies, but to assume we can’t afford their services without winning the lottery is very ignorant.

Hopefully this office can take some time out of their busy schedules to educate their staff on proper office conduct, because she is a beyond miserable person who made my experience for my family miserable. Such a bad look for Dr Slavin.

And if I didn’t state previously, take some time to review the previous negative comments and the offices representatives responses. So unprofessional. Please don’t be like me having good faith in a practice because they accept our insurance and is doing everything unethically. Per my new dental hygienist he discovered a couple more cavities my kids had that erupted right after our visit with Dr Slavin and that’s because he didn’t take X-rays like he said he did . Crazy anyone else who have to be subjected to that.

I didn’t get a chance to do a review for this dentist. I see a bunch of people giving him a bad review. I don’t think he’s that bad. In fact he did great work with my teeth and I thought he was very friendly. This is my dentist of choice around this whole area. I’d trust him to get the job done right! He was very quick to get me in as a new patient. He fixed everything I needed done quickly but very well done. Ever since he had done work on my teeth I haven’t had to go back. So I give him and his staff five stars. It’s so hard to find a good dentist anymore. But if you want reliable dental work and great service come to Manteno dental!

And here I am in 2024, still getting calls and texts for Dr. William Slavin. It’s been 6 years now. This time, it was Keller Williams, I’ll bet you used them for your house, or dental practice. Your number is one off from mine. It’s becoming a real problem. Fix your mess ups!! I am starting to add pics of the calls for you…

Dr. William Slavin, I received another call about your 2014 Audi. I have left you messages. It’s been about 5 years since I have been receiving calls for you, car stuff, mortgage, etc. Your number is off by one number. Learn your cell phone number!!
