I live within walking distance of several dentists’ offices but traveled to Miswak, based on another patient’s recommendation. It was worth it!

The office has all the amenities that are typical of an upscale dental practice, and they can do a lot of cosmetic procedures if you want. But I never felt like I was being upsold. I read about Dr. Riyal’s background and how he grew up without dental insurance and wants to make dental care more accessible. Those values definitely come through.

It had been many years since my last dental visit, but I never felt judged by anyone there, including the office staff and the hygienist. The focus was on getting me back on track and “We’re glad you’re here now” rather than doom and gloom and “If only you’d taken care of this years ago.” I appreciated this positive approach and feeling like there was a good plan for my care going forward.

I transitioned from a former dentist to Miswak last year after a few unfavorable experiences at other dentists, and my Miswak visits have exceeded my expectations. I have found Miswak to be skilled and professional, and the office is new and modern. They are mindful of time and do not try to “sell” me on services that are not needed which is an issue I have found with other modern dentist offices; yet they are thorough and thoughtful. I was in a rush with one of my visits due to a work commitment, and the dentist actually did my cleaning and check up just to make sure I could finish my appointment and address my work matter ~ going above and beyond from a service perspective.

Just left my first appointment and had to immediately write this review because this was SUCH a great experience! Everyone was so kind and great to interact with. The dentist actually showed me my x-rays, walked me through the different aspects he was looking for, and what I think was most impactful for me: told me what was normal. This made me feel great. I don’t know what I’m looking at, so everything looks scary. I left feeling relaxed and confident.

For the first time in my life I felt heard and respected by a dentist. All of my concerns were addressed, I learned a lot, and I feel confident they have my health’s best interest at heart.
