If you have all of the time in the world and enjoy paying your own dental bills, this is the dental office for you! Between my son and I, there were 5 visits in the past 2 months. The first four visits, nothing to complain about also nothing to write home about. I was in for my final visit this week, and arrived just on time for my appointment as always. The previous 4 visits began right on time, just how I like it. I understand that this is not always the case because things come up, but I was grateful that things have worked out smoothly to fit within my tight schedule. I arrived for my appointment, and there was no receptionist at the desk, so I waited patiently in the lobby area. Two minutes later, the receptionist returned to her desk and asked me about a rejected claim that they had received the day before for my son’s visit. It indicated that they were to bill my son’s other insurance before billing them. I explained to the receptionist that I only had one dental insurance policy on my son. She asked that I call the insurance company to correct the error, and I agreed that I would. I returned to my seat and continued to overhear a personal conversation between the hygienist and the previous patient. I waited patiently, assuming that perhaps the other hygienist was running behind. 10 minutes after my appointment was to begin, the previous patient left, and I was told that the room needed to be cleaned. 15 minutes after my appointment was to begin I confirmed with the receptionist that my appointment time was indeed 11am. She said, “Yes.” I then advised her that she would need to reschedule my appointment because I did not have 15 minutes to spare so that the hygienist could have time to chat with her friend. The hygienist immediately rushed out to the lobby apologizing and offering up excuses such as “We are running behind because Dr. Murray needed the day off?” (Really? I am at a dental office with no dentist? Legal? Yes. Something that I am comfortable with? No.) The hygienist also provided the excuse that she hadn’t seen the previous patient in 2 – 3 years. (Really? Because when I am late for my work meetings following my visit to the dentist, everything will be just fine because you needed to catch up with your old pal.) I proceeded to leave, when against my better judgement I was persuaded to stay as the hygienist promised that I would still be done at the same time. (Really? If my 45 minute appointment is done in 30 minutes, what short cuts are being taken?) I reluctantly sat in the chair for the appointment because it was the last of the appointments in the series that was needed, and completed the final cleaning. At the end of the appointment, the hygienist said, “Would you like to set up your next appointment?” I said, “No. You do not value my time so neither me nor my son will be returning.” As I walked past the receptionist desk, I advised her that she could cancel my son’s appointment that was scheduled for February. She said, “OK,” and once again reminded me of the rejected claim. I told her again, that I would call the insurance company and take care of the issue. I left Dr. Moore’s office and called my insurance company on my drive back to work. I explained what I was told about the claim being rejected and affirmed that I only had one dental insurance policy on my son. As the customer service representative reviewed the claim, she was immediately able to identify the issue. The dental office submitted the claim for my son stating that he was FEMALE and the relationship to the policy holder was DAUGHTER. The claim was rejected because it did not match the sex and relationship that was listed on the policy. I was told that once the claim was submitted with the right information, it would be paid. UNBELIEVABLE! I question the quality of the services provided because of such a poor experience. If you are looking for a dental office where the staff loves to chat, you have all of the time in the world, and you prefer to pay your bills without insurance this is the place for you! Otherwise, look elsewhere!
Prior to finding Moore Lake Dental, I hated going to the dentist. I was always embarrassed, it was awkward, and usually resulted in more than a few tears. From the first time I stepped in their office, it was different. I was given a thorough first appointment/check-up that helped create a plan to fix everything that needed to be fixed; I’ve been sticking to that plan for over 1 year now & am happy to say I’m almost finished! Every time I go in the staff from Theresa to the technicians, Dr. Murray & Jane their hygienist has been nothing but warm, educational & wonderful. I’m so lucky to have found them and would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for a new dentist.
I had a crown put in about three years ago by Moore Lake Dental. It cost me about $1,500. It has caused me problems ever since, because it doesn’t fit properly. I am forever lodging food between my crown and my other teeth so that by the end of my meal my gums hurt from the pressure. I’ve decided that I should just replace the crown since my current dentist says there’s no fix for it as it is.
