Reviews:
Short version: Fine for just regular cleanings, but they appear to not care about their patients because they won’t help you if any other issue arises, such as needing a filling replaced.

Long version: After moving to St. Johns, I needed a new dentist. I called in January 2024 and they scheduled me for July 2024 – which was fine as it was for a regular cleaning and I know it can be hard to get scheduled as a new patient.

Ahead of my appointment I had an old filling that I could tell was getting loose. I told them about it during my appointment and they looked at it and said “it looks fine but call us if you have issues later.” Later that same day, the filling fell out.

So, I called the next morning only to discover they do not schedule any appointments other than a regular cleaning. And because I just had a cleaning, they couldn’t schedule an appointment to fix the filling. Instead, I had to just show up whatever morning I’m able, sit and wait, and just hope they have time to see me. I showed up on a Monday right at 8am only to be told there would be no dentist in that day. I showed up again on Wednesday and sat for two hours in the waiting room. I then asked the front desk if there would be any chance at all they could see me that day, and she said I’d just have to wait and see. I promptly left, called another dentist I wasn’t even a patient at, and they scheduled me for just a couple days later and fixed the filling for me.

Not once in my life have I heard of a dentist who wouldn’t schedule an appointment to fix a filling for one of their patients. I told second dentist – who happens to be Bath Family Dentistry – what happened and they just couldn’t believe it.

I HIGHLY recommend Bath Family Dentistry – they will be my dentist moving forward. And I highly recommend avoiding My Community Dental Center in St. Johns as they have shown they don’t care about their patients. They simply want to churn out as many cleanings as they can and not bother with actual patient care.

DO NOT SCHEUDLE HERE IF A NEW PATIENT. Looking at all the recent reviews in the last 6 months makes me upset as it’s happening a lot! I Called early last year to schedule new patient appointments. After waiting 6 months they had to reschedule both my daughter and myself the day before our appointments. They couldn’t get us in for atleast another 6 months. I rescheduled and was told they would call with any cancelations. Never got a single call. We are supposed to be seen finally next week and just got told they once again have to reschedule our appointments…. this time they are 8-9 months out. That’s almost 2 years I have waited for an appointment for my daughter and I. Meanwhile my husband and son have gotten in and been seen multiple times… horrible experience. Will be taking our family somewhere else.
I have had my community dental SJ reschedule more than twice for me and my youngest son, in which they were scheduled another 6 months out and those other was 3 more months. This time I had to call to reschedule due to being sick. The lady over the phone was less than impressed with me as she must have known we really love being sick. She wouldn’t allow me to reschedule, I was instructed to wait for a letter. The letter was received warning me that they would kick us out of all surrounding dental centers if we have another broken appointment. I put five stars for Alicia because she was the best and I am sorry you lost her.
