I was told that my son had cavities and one could be a root canal. Given my experience with my daughter for a smaller cavity I took him for a second opinion. After an xray and exam we were told that his teeth were fine and he had no cavities to fill and nothing that looked like a root canal. I was also told that my daughter had multiple additional cavities to address and also took her for a second opinion. They took additional X-rays and she too did not require any additional treatment. I wish I got a second opinion before I subjected both of them to a first round of cavities at Olivieira. Both children complained of pain during routine drilling with this dentist even after Novocaine. After I had a cleaning and met Dr cardo for the first time I shared my concern about my daughter’s experience and asked that my entire family be switched to Dr cardo for further treatment. I never heard back from her about her follow up with Dr O. I have had years of dental work and never experienced pain from drilling. One of my daughter’s cavities which had zero pain prior to seeing Dr. O ended up in so much pain after drilling that she needed a root canal before traveling which now requires a crown. I wish I went for a second opinion before allowing Oliveira to perform any work on my children. We were at this practice because we followed Dr avrutin. When he retired we were supposed to be seen by Dr cardo but somehow ended up with Oliviera. I can also add that some small cavities that my daughter had in January and were told could wait because they couldnt fit her in ended up being a larger cavity and a root canal in May. This was a huge communication issue where we were told that something could wait and then it became a bigger issue to deal with. I still don’t know if it became a bigger issue because of how deep the dentist was drilling or if it was indeed a big cavity. My daughter never had any pain with the tooth until after the dentist worked on this tooth. I can add that she is the most diligent flosser and brusher, barely eats sweets and is pescatarian. Dr. O’s bedside manner and communication style need work as well as her diagnosis technique. My daughter never experienced dental issues until she was seen by Dr. O.

My family has been using Dr. Oliveira’s services since my sons were teenagers and they are now both in their 30’s. She and her sister are wonderful practitioners and professionals. Over the years, I’ve transitioned through different hygienists there and they have all been great. We now see Dolores who somehow manages to be thorough but gentle. There’s evidence of teamwork and comraderie in this practice which translates to excellent patient care and outcomes. Thank you. J. Johnson
