Four months ago I went to this practice for a consultation to have a rather substantial toothache resolved. Some work was done but I was told I would need more. Eventually I decided on a full dental reconstruction and Dr. Axmann said she could do it.
They charged my insurance to consult and take dental molds and prepare a plan. I told them I wanted ceramic caps. I was told they would cost extra and I agreed. I just needed a cost and a schedule of work from them so I could manage the finances needed.
At a third meeting, held last week, when I again asked for a price, they couldn’t seem to give me one without first explaining that they would cost extra. I explained that I understood this and had already agreed to the expense. It was surreal. I couldn’t understand why they would not give me a cost.
I mentioned that the tooth she had worked on was turning black and causing great discomfort.
What struck me as odd is that she wouldn’t look at the tooth. I could only surmise that, by letting the problem get worse, she would be able to extract even more money from my insurance. It was at this point that I began to suspect that her behaviour was fraudulent.
“All I want is a number so we can get started” I said and, with that, they finally gave me a cost. Then, shortly thereafter, they sent me an email telling me that they couldn’t do the work because they didn’t like my attitude! They didn’t seem to understand or care that I was in pain and needed a solution immediately.
I decided to move on and get a second opinion.
It turns out that there has been negligence on their part and that action will need to be taken on a variety of levels.
I asked them to return all of the x rays and dental molds they had charged to my insurance and to this day they have not. To add insult to injury they tried to cover their tracks by suggesting that it was I that was being unreasonable. This is a standard tactic of people who operate inside of corporate behaviours. They refused to accept any responsibility for the pain I was experiencing.
There has to be ethical questions raised about a dentist that has allowed an abscess to form and then not treat it. I am seeking professional legal advice.
I would not recommend this dentist to anyone.
First they had to reissue that invoice for the correct number of my teeth, because no one bothered counting them – it seems 32 is the default number for everyone. But the other problem with not knowing how they arrived to the total sum still remained. And on top of that, out of the blue they put a higher factor number in the second invoice. Anything to just take your money!
I spent months of emails, phone calls, and visits to their office, trying to get them to explain their invoice and that factor number increase to me. And till this day, they haven’t. Their mantra is: “You don’t have to understand our invoice to pay it” – I’m quoting!
I’m absolutely appalled by their arrogance and complete lack of customer care! I’ll never set foot in that praxis ever again, and I’ll keep spreading my horrible experience with them. Maybe then they’ll think twice about how they treat their customers.
