Reviews:
I do not ever write negative reviews, but feel compelled to share my experience with Smile SF so that it may serve as a warning to others. I recently moved to San Fransisco and was forced to find a new dentist after years of visiting one that I loved on the East Coast. I found Smile SF through OpenCare and felt assured by their excellent Google reviews. My visit started off on a challenging foot, with the hygienist continually failing to take proper x-rays of my teeth,. She eventually needed to take at least ten additional x-rays. I then met with Dr. Sefidvash for an exam which consisted of a review of my x-rays, an oral cancer screen, and a scan of my periodontal pockets in which she repeatedly stabbed the probe into the soft tissue of my gums, causing them to bleed. She told me I had 5 and 6 mm periodontal pockets, visible bone loss from periodontal disease, and four cavities that needed to be filled immediately. She said I needed a “deep cleaning” (which I’d need to be sedated for) and a set of fillings that would run me $3500, though lucky me, with insurance I’d only be out 1k. I was very surprised to hear this, given that I had most recently visited my dentist less than a year ago and he had noted none of these issues. I am also 23 years old, healthy, and have had no problems with sensitivity or bleeding that would indicate any problem. For this reason, I booked an appointment for a second opinion. The second dentist told me I had no visible periodontal issues, no bone loss, and zero cavities that needed filling. I would advise people to avoid this office, or at least to seek out second opinions if told unexpected bad news.
I hadn’t been to the dentist in a very long time after struggling with alcoholism and addiction in my twenties. My teeth had seen better days, and I had a lot of shame around not taking care of myself.

Dr. Farah (and team) have improved my mouth health immensely in just a few short weeks, and at no point during this process have I felt any judgement or ridicule. Very warm and inclusive bunch!

They’ve also done a great job educating me on the finer points of at-home dental care, and been very transparent about every step along the way.

Anyway, long story short, I’m very happy to have found such a great dentist, and highly recommend Dr. Farah and her team.

I have been a patient with Smile SF for over a year now and I have received excellent dental care.

Monica and Veronica provide wonderful customer service and have been extremely patient with all of my care needs. Dr. Farah is proactive with her treatment plans and explains everything she provides clearly and ensures that any questions I may have are answered.

I would highly recommend anyone looking for quality dental care to check out Dr. Farah and her team.
