I took time to understand why this clinic has a low rating and decided it was still worth giving them a chance with their teeth whitening.
I chose in chair whitening with Smile in the City as I wanted a professional dentist’s assessment on whether this was suitable for me. I even called up to ask before booking whether I needed to organise a consult and a clean to which they responded that the dentist will assess on the day.

On the day, there was no checking, no questions asked about my teeth history etc, we just jumped straight into it. I only later found that I needed a clean first to maximize my results – which contribute to why the results of this costly and uncomfortable session were unremarkable. I also noted that the whitening gel was only applied to four front teeth on the top noting a regular person shows at least 8 top teeth when smiling. “Lucky” the treatment didn’t have much effect so that contrast between the teeth that were treated and those not aren’t too obvious.

I didn’t learn until after this treatment that this is not a treatment to take lightly nor can you do it regularly. I would think twice about which clinic to choose next time.

I’ve been going to Smile in the City for 18 months now, and even though I’ve moved away from the area, I still make the effort to go back for my dental appointments, because I trust the quality. Dr. Li takes the time to properly examine my teeth, and gives them such a thorough clean that they always feel incredibly smooth afterwards. I have overlapping lower teeth, and the build up of plaque is difficult to get rid of with floss. After I visit Smile in the City, I can feel the difference – there’s a gap between my teeth, and the plaque is gone.

My first visit, Dr. Li applied some sort of gel that highlighted the build up of bacteria on my teeth where I wasn’t brushing properly. She provided me with better education on my brushing habits, and encouraged me to keep in mind my problem areas.

The reviews I’ve read here state the staff were rude, but I’ve never had that experience. I think the people who left those reviews probably have no insight into different cultural customs. The staff are always polite, and Dr. Li is attentive and good at what she does.

I usually don’t write online recommendations, but I walked out of a dental appointment today feeling that it was important to share my experience. Each time I visit Smile in the City I’m reminded of just how lucky I am to have found this practice, and especially Dr Li. It took a long time to find a dentist that I was comfortable with, but I’m grateful that I’ve built such strong trust and rapport with Dr Li and the clinic. The whole team are professional, attentive, highly skilled and very caring… which can at times be hard to find but is crucially important.
