Reviews:
Second trip to Japan, staying in Tokyo, and I’d already been to my dentist and gotten a clean bill of health. The very first day in Japan after the flight, I was suffering some minor tooth pain. I put it down to existing fillings just being hyper sensitive, but it got worse the next day. Without ibuprofen I would have been floored by the pain. Had a look inside my mouth, lo and behold, a chunk of tooth between the fillings had broken away while I was on the plane without me realising. So I resign myself to needing to find an emergency dentist. I contact Ryo Dental Clinic on a Sunday, when they’re closed, by email expecting a response Monday morning at the earliest – instead within two hours I get not just a reply but also an appointment that Monday morning right as they open. It turns out this is an exceptionally good thing because the pain became crippling that very morning, to the point I could barely think straight, and I hadn’t slept properly at all.
They saw me immediately when I came in, explained everything very clearly and patiently throughout, answered any questions I had, and showed me the x-rays they took there and then. Turns out that there had been problems lurking under that tooth for a while, and with the breakage in it, it had fully exposed the nerve that remained alive in it, and it had gotten badly infected. It was a very expensive procedure in the end (about PS980 total) and because of the state of the infection the most they could do was the root canal prep work, but they not only did all this that very morning, they also prescribed and provided a full course of painkillers and antibiotics, detailed instructions on how to take them, and also prepared a letter in English for my own dentist back home so he could see what was done and what else needed to be done. Absolutely fantastic dentist, who saved not only my holiday, but possibly also my life. Had I not gone to the dentist I could have gotten life threateningly ill. Top marks all around – clean, professional, polite, efficient and patient. If you find yourself visiting Tokyo and your teeth decide to betray you like mine did, I cannot recommend this surgery enough!

Terrible service and treatment at this clinic. After discussing my issues with another local dentist I can assuredly inform you that this clinic will not only take you for a ride, but that they are sub par in knowledge, professionalism and equipment. The fact that they don’t take Japanese national insurance should tell you all you need to know about this place. Specialising mainly in unknowing foreigners and raking it in on international insurance schemes and passing on the bloated prices onto their customers. If you’re living in Tokyo, you can do so much better with your hard earned cash. Look through the google reviews, the truth hurts. They say a fool and his money are easily separated; don’t be a fool, I have already been one for you. Minus 1 star out of 5.
I had a professional deep cleaning at this office with the hygienist, Neha. She did a fabulous job and I was really happy with the results! Each time I visit, Neha is always very gentle, patient and caring as I have TMJ – she’s aware and always goes out of her way to make me comfortable.
Dr. Ryo is always very patient and kind and has a calming nature. He takes the time to listen to patients and will answer all your questions. Easy to communicate with – especially in English. Really happy with this clinic overall!
