Reviews:
I went to PRDP after my last dentist (NHS) booted me off the register when I changed my phone number and I was advised a 6-12 month min wait for a new NHS dentist. I had just had a wisdom tooth extraction due to infection and my jaw was locking. I was a little dubious about going private as I had heard tales of astronomical prices and little difference in service level but found their schedule of rates to be reasonable and service level above and beyond. In short, Dr Green’s surgery is brilliant. They saw me within 24 hours, gave me treatment for the remaining infection and when I registered I had a consultation in a side room to talk through previous dental history, medical history and how I felt about visiting the dentist. I told them about one of my biggest fears from a previous dentist using one particular tool and they have always remembered I have anxiety about this which is really caring. I also broke one of my teeth on holiday and they saw me within 3 hours of asking for an appt. Dr Green has also fixed a fair bit of unnecessary and botched dentistry from my previous NHS dentist. I always recommend this practice to my friends because you can tell they care about their patients.
I am surprised to read the view expressed in the two most recent reviews of this excellent dentist who has been treating me for the last twenty years. It is certainly true that the practice has not gone down the route of turning itself into a “dental spa’ – no fancy furnishings, tanks of tropical fish, or huge posters showing people with implausibly white and even teeth. But I prefer to think my money is being spent on dentistry rather than interior design. Mr G is an absolute expert in his field, always talking about the latest developments or some new technique or material which he has recently adopted. He also charges extremely reasonable prices for a private dentist in a city centre location. Don’t be misled by the subterranean surroundings and the lived-in furniture in the waiting room into thinking this is anything other than a first-class service. He also has excellent taste in music.
Updated June 2023 – I have just been back for a check up and again he is the nicest, most caring dentist you’ll find.
I have been going to this dentist for 15 years or so. He has been, without doubt, the best dentist I have been to. He cares and is passionate about dentistry. This is a no-frills dentist – and to be honest I don’t need any frills. I need someone to look after my teeth, not recommend ridiculous treatments that aren’t proven and could cause longer term issues. And to top it off he is very reasonably priced. 5* all day long based on his dentistry skills, not what his sofa is like.
