Reviews:
Dr. Young is an AMAZING Dentist & his Assistant is AWESOME she will make you feel very comfortable, but Jean the front desk lady is not so good. She will not call you back about insurance issues. I have had to call her concerning follow-up information.
For Example I am apprehensive about being stuck in the roof of my mouth with a needle & I asked Jean if she would ask Dr. Young if he would prescribe something before my appointment, she said she would ask him & call me back, well needless to say… it didn’t happen. So I was going to change dentist because of this issue, Jean didn’t care, she made me feel like some neurotic that was wasting her time.
I stopped by the office one day to get a copy of my x-rays because I was really going to change dentist over this & Dr. Young just happen to come out of the back, after I told him my concern with the needle he assured me that it wouldn’t be that way (I never said anything about Jean).
Now that I have gotten clearance from my insurance company concerning dental work that Dr. Young wants to do, I have been waiting on Jean to call & schedule an appointment, ( I’ve had the paperwork for about 5 days so I know she has gotten the approval).
I refuse to chase a dental office.
If you can get past this type of behavior Dr. Young is an EXCELLENT dentist, he’s very caring, gentle & kind. He makes the visit worth taking.
I don’t understand what has occurred with the front desk, but after being a patient of Dr. Young for over 10 years, I guess it’s time for change.
On Tuesday, October 11, 2022 I had an appointment with Dentist – Dr. Thomas Young in Killeen, Texas. My appointment was rescheduled twice due to the dentist having strep throat and again when a piece of office equipment broke down. Initially, I was told I had 2 small fillings and the cost would be $155 per tooth ($310 total). My appointment time was 11:00 and I arrived at 11:00 and paid my $310 at that time. The dentist didn’t come back to start the process until after noon. He filled both teeth and I went to the front desk to checkout and the receptionist informed me that my cost was increased by $450 (bringing my total to $760) because one filling needed more dental composite than usual. How much composite did you use to justify $450 in additional charges??? My first thought was: this is why you take x-rays to see what is required! This way there are no surprises. I’m 64 years old and have never had to pay more at the dentist than what’s discussed upfront. I was charged $760 for two small fillings. Make sure you know what the cost is upfront before you go to this dentist because you may get a BIG SURPRISE at check-out!!!
Good luck if you have a family emergency. They will charge you a 50 dollar fee to reschedule.

**replying to the dentist** I didn’t say that you did charge me. But you would have if I would have stayed with you. I explained that I had a family emergency and immediately was told because of not letting you know within 24 hours of the appointment that i would be charged the fee. Family emergencies happen when they happen. Even if its withing 24hr of a dentist appointment. Unfortunately because of your policy and how the situation was handled over the phone, you will not have my business.

And I was informed that I could submit a memo to them that would wave it because I did talk with them. However, I had a short suspense date and the time was just not there.
